During lockdown I've realised something, I'm lucky - I could afford notebooks and stationary, I got therapy through my job, I had a supportive circle around me. I know it's not the same for everyone. I have good mental health today because I could access that world easily. My mission with Dear Writer isn't just to make nice looking guided journals (although that's part of it!), at the very core of it I want more people to have access to journaling and start writing.
I've been journaling at the time of writing for over three years so a relative newbie but the effects pre and post journaling are pretty black and white. It helped me through some difficult times yes but also just in terms of general daily clarity now I'm so much more focused and aware of what's going on inside that it's very rare (it still happens!) that things get bottled up and cause problems.
There are some great free journaling prompts out there and I don't believe that someone who really needs support and can't pay for it, should go without, that's not the world I want to live in. I've added my first free journaling prompt here:
This is the first in a series I'll be releasing on a weekly basis.
